About Brynford
The Brynford Civic Association (BCA) represents the residents of the Fifth Ward, precinct 1, which runs from College to County Line, up to San Marino and down to the Septa tracks, with both Bryn Mawr and Haverford zipcodes. Our unique corner of Haverford Township is a balance of residential, commercial, religious, recreational, and educational places. We have many historic structures, including one of two Haverford Friends Meetings; parts of two private schools and the only college in the township; and long-term rehab, skilled nursing, and assisted living facilities. From the Main Line Arts Center on Panmure to the Memorial Church of God in Christ on Buck Lane, we represent a range of creative and spiritual experiences.
You can play sports on the Polo Field or on Preston; take a hike along the ginko path behind Haverford Friends; visit a doctor’s office, a camera shop, a bakery, a grocery store; buy a car or get your car fixed; grab something to eat; or take the Septa line to town. If you walk around among our nearly 500 homes, you will meet residents young and old and from every ethnicity. You will also see a large variety of wildlife—many species of trees and bushes, hawks, fox, rabbits, deer, and of course our beloved pets. |
About Us
Established in the 1960sResidents started meeting as a civic association in the late 1960s and early 70s. Bylaws were adopted in 1990 and at one point nearly half the households in the area were members.

Our GoalOver the decades we have worked together to improve our neighborhood, maintain the right balance of homes and commercial enterprises, keep the streets as traffic-free and safe as possible, and preserve many pockets of peace and beauty. We are non-profit, non-political, but pro-collaboration and civility.

Keeping the BCA Alive During Challenging Times
January 2023
Welcome to Our New Officers
The last couple of years have been difficult for Brynford residents as we worked to keep members of our community healthy and safe, especially our older residents. For safety reasons, BCA suspended indoor, in-person activities through the summer of 2022. We were pleased to host our first in-person community event in October, with a wildly successful Trunk-and-Treat for Halloween. A big thanks to Anh Ruegsegger for organizing the event.
At our annual meeting in November we held an election to select a new slate of officers. All of the candidates ran unopposed. We are looking forward to getting back into the swing of in-person events this year. Monthly meetings will be held at 3PM on the third Sunday of each month at the Haverford Friends Meeting at 855 Buck Lane.
If you would like to get involved, please send an email to brynfordca@gmail.com.
For 2023-2024 the BCA executive board will consist of the following officers:
President: Jake Swann
Oakley Road
Vice President: Cecelia Dunlap
Buck Lane
Treasurer: Michele Morris
Martin Avenue
Recording Secretary: Doreen Saar
Rugby Road
Community Engagement Director: Anh Ruegsegger
Polo Street
Communications Director: Anthony Stumpo
Martin Avenue
In addition to the Executive Board, there are numerous standing committees for which we are always looking for new members:
Community Engagement Committee Chair: Anh Ruegsegger
Communications Committee Chair: Anthony Stumpo
Polo Field Committee Chair: Kathy Case
Preston Field Committee: Nick Odorisio
Governance Committee Chair: Diane Drentlaw
Neighboring Institutions Chair: Eric Hartman
Program Development Committee Chair: Anh Ruegsegger
